Hockey Canada’s Sponsor’s Event at Airship37
Guest speaker Brendan Shanahan, 2013 Hockey Hall of Fame Inductee held the crowd’s attention with stories of his experiences wearing his Canada’s colours in international play.
Shanahan looks on at a 22 year old version of himself after Canada’s victory at the 1991 Canada Cup. He would go on to tell of how he and an even younger Eric Lindros would sit in the dressing room amazed at the faces around them – Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Mark Messier, Paul Coffey – and how they would whistle to each other as a smooth and secret way to communicate their awe.
Brendan Shanahan is NHL VP of Hockey and Business Development and Director of Player Safety.
Brendan Shanahan regaled the crowd with a hilarious re-telling of the famous “Punch-up in Piestany”.
Sponsors for the upcoming World Junior Championships, co-hosted by Toronto and Montreal were treated to personalized Hockey Canada jerseys.
A little table hockey in Airship37’s Gooderham Lounge to round out the day.
