Magnolia Studios shares the stunning wedding day album of Nicole and Chris’s Elegant Fall Toronto Wedding at the historic 1871 Berkeley Church.

If you described the weddings style what would you say ?

I would describe it as a modern and elegant fall wedding.  It was a beautiful day, a cozy evening and a fun party 🙂

Your couple has a playful interaction and there was a great range in the portraits from playful to elegant, how do you direct each unique couple ?

I find a lot of my couples like to have happy, playful photos along with the cool, creative portraits.

I mention on my website that my point of view when shooting a wedding is really gravitating toward photos that show the ‘happy’ and ‘joyful’ energy in the day – a more lighthearted, playful approach as opposed to a dramatic or serious approach.  I think my couples connect with this and enjoy the same.  In my view, it was very natural to catch Nicole and Chris with big smiles on their faces and I thought it fitting that their gallery has many photos of them this way.

“I am inspired by my clients! While my photography style is consistent, it works really well for so many different kinds of weddings – from romantic & classic to vintage retro I really try to capture the uniqueness of my clients and their weddings. I am passionate about capturing the true feel of a wedding – the happy, fun, emotional moments – it is what wedding photography is all about!” Magnolia Studios

Although the wedding was large you captured unique intimate details like lovely still life paintings, much as guests would have appreciated them . What is your mindset for this ?

I love details!  Along with the moments that unfold throughout the day, on a visual level, I pay very close attention to the creative touches throughout every wedding. There is always a story behind the details and why they chose certain things and I like to bring it all together to tell the full story.  On top of that, I am truly in awe and enjoy discovering all the beautiful details that clients choose, and Nicole and Chris have great taste!

Looking back what strikes you as truly epic about this wedding?

There is something so cozy about fall weddings, especially with a later ceremony.

There was a real sense of togetherness between their friends and families so even with a full guest list the overall mood still felt intimate!  The wedding was fun, easy going with a nice flow and a full dance floor which is always a good time. I am passionate about capturing the true feel of a wedding – the happy, fun, spontaneous moments – so this wedding was a really fun one to capture.

I love it when clients make their weddings very personalized!  It tells so much about them and it allows me to weave these personal elements into their wedding day story. Magnolia Studios

How does the other work you do as a photographer inform the way you approach capturing the wedding day?

I always like to shoot a variety of ways on a wedding day.  Along with portraits and candids, I do love to capture the space really well, including the details, which comes from the architecture and interiors work that I do.  A common feedback I get from clients is that my direction style is really helpful during couple photos,  which comes from my experience in the studio shooting fashion and music photography.  I tend to bring a little of that influence into my creative wedding photos as well!
