Karen and Sam share their timeless, stunning, and whimsical Berkeley Fieldhouse wedding day.

Looking back on your wedding day what strikes you as the best decision you made in the planning process that constructed to the success of your day?

Hands down, hiring a month of coordinator. We hired Charlie Rodgers from Pretty Plans and she saved the day in so many ways. We really felt more like guests at our wedding than hosts. We didn’t worry about anything in the weeks leading up to it as we knew we were in capable hands. She was so organized, professional, and fun to be around. She truly helped make the day as smooth as it was!

What were your sources of inspiration for the design of your wedding?

We went for a timeless, neutral, yet whimsical design. I knew I wanted to bring the rustic charm of the Berkeley Fieldhouse into the design, so we asked for lots of greenery in our florals.

The venue was a big inspiration for bringing the outdoors in. We knew we wanted parts of the wedding outdoors so it was the perfect venue for that. Pinterest of course was where I got a lot of ideas from too.

How did you choose your vendor team and create such a beautiful succinct outcome for your day?

I knew I wanted Alix to be our photographer because I had been following her on Instagram for a few years before. I was drawn to her light and airy aesthetic, and she did not disappoint! Our friends’ wedding had our band, Southbound Soul, and once we heard them play at their wedding, we knew we definitely wanted them for ours too. Our other vendors were found via Instagram.

I did a lot of research and interviewed multiple vendors to find the most perfect, dream team of vendors!

If you had to choose a wedding picture to frame and put up which would it be and why?

This is so hard to choose, and we will be framing a few for our gallery wall! But if I had to it would be this one.

When Alix took us to get sunset photos, it was a nice little moment for us to get away for a bit and this photo looks like a painting! We love it.

What advice would you give a newly engaged couple?

Pick a few things that are non-negotiable so you can spend more on those things. For us it was live music and photography. Also, we were engaged for a year and a half, but what they say is true, it flies by especially the last few months, so enjoy being engaged!

What is the story of your beautiful dress?

I actually pinned this dress on Pinterest, so when they had it at Sash and Bustle, I knew I had to try it. They advised me to start with the dress I’m most excited about. So this was the first dress I tried on, and the one I ended up picking! I think it suits me perfectly and gave me the tingly, I-feel-so-beautiful feeling and that’s how I knew!
